1. Find a job online that you think will be a good fit.
2. Have your resume open in Microsoft Word or Google Docs side-by-side with the Jobalope Scan Resume Tool like this:
3. Address as many of the items listed in the report as you can. You make the changes yourself in your own resume doc, using the report as a guide.
4. If the report identifies “issues” that you don’t think are problems, click ignore to exclude them from the score (to undo, just click ignore again.)
5. As you address the issues, check off the items in the report until your overall score is over 75%.
6. Save your new and improved resume and send it off.
My scan is taking a long time
The scan isn’t instantaneous; it does normally take a few seconds. Take a moment to stand up and stretch or move around a bit.
I’m getting a server error message
This sometimes means that your resume and/or job descriptions are too long.
– Check to make sure that you didn’t paste in the content multiple times.
– Try for a combined maximum of under 14,000 characters for both the resume and job description.
It may also mean that we’re having a hard time parsing your resume content. This means that an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) will very likely also have trouble with it.
– Try saving the resume as a PDF file and then copying and pasting it.
When I re-scan the same resume and job description, I’m getting back slightly different results
This is normal. The Jobalope AI is finding or prioritizing new issues. All good!
My problem is not listed here but I still need help
No problem:
– Send an email to [email protected], and we’ll get back to you ASAP (we try to respond in under two hours.)
– In your email, please list the email address on your resume, a description of the problem, and what kind of technology you’re using (for example, a MacBook or Chrome browser).
– If you can provide a screenshot, that is often the most helpful.
